As a tribute to the Quintana All-Stars’ late saxophonist, Al Mallet, who passed away April 30 in Lynchburg, the group will play many of his favorite tunes:

Deacon Albert Mallet Jr, 79 of Lynchburg Virginia passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025. He was born June 25, 1945 to the late Albert Mallet Sr and Josephine Peters Mallet. Proceeding him in death was his brother-in-law Deacon James W. Farmer. He is survived to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 60 years Barbara Morris Mallet; a daughter, Aisha M. Thomas (Andrew); two sons Dominic I. Mallet (Donna) and Shawn C. Mallet (Cynthia); eight grandchildren, Joshua, Venita (Shaun), Deante, Eboni (Demetrece), Anthony, Aaron, Adrian, Aaron (NC); three great grandchildren, Xavier, Shaun Jr, and Jaedyn; a devoted sister, Dr. Brenda Farmer and a host of other family and friends. Albert graduated from Dunbar high school in 1963. He served a short stint in the Air Force. He retired from GE-Ericsson. Albert was on the faculty staff at CVCC, VP of Finance for Virginia University of Lynchburg. Albert also had various professional roles in associations like Girl Scouts. His education achievements are Averett College (B.S), Averett College (MBA), American Institute of professional bookkeepers, Central Virginia Community College (AAS Accounting), Real Estate. In 1990, Albert was ordained as a deacon at Court Street Baptist Church. He served as a superintendent of Sunday School as well as a Sunday School teacher to the senior adults. Also, he was a musician for all of the church choirs. As a Bible scholar, he hosted his own TV show, Good News (locally aired). Prayerfully the musical talent and depthness of Albert’s music touched many hearts and was encouraging. OBIT is from “The Community Funeral Home, Inc.” website |
