This year marks the 30th anniversary of the quartet. The concert will showcase Paddy’s original songs as well as celebrate familiar covers from her award winning band Mainstreet Rhythm & Blues. The show Winds of Change is about the inevitable transitions in life and the songs that marked those changes.
“The musical winds have certainly shifted throughout my life,” said Paddy. “I created Mainstreet back in the 90s, toured as a backup singer for David Bromberg, had several of my songs fully orchestrated and performed in concert with Rita Coolidge and the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra. I’ve worked as a songwriter with Kid Pan Alley writing hundreds of songs with thousands of children. I’ve been a music teacher in schools for nearly thirty years and have had a wonderful ride so far. Now, I’m ready to devote my full time and energy to my music. There are so many projects and songs that I want to complete and share.”
Recently retired from teaching, Paddy is positioned for this new chapter in life. “The winds of change are certainly shifting right now in my life. I’ve left the world of teaching to dedicate my energy to writing and performing. It has been a leap of faith, but I trust that the sails are adjusted and that I’m moving in the right direction.”
If their recent performance at The Bower Center for the Arts is any indication, the group is definitely moving in the right direction. They performed to a sold out room of enthusiastic fans cheering their return to music. Some relived the rocking days of Mainstreet at the Garlic Festival or Friday Cheers, others relished the soothing ballads of Paddy’s more recent works. All enjoyed an evening celebrating Paddy’s return to music.
